The Georgetown Steam Plant's inaugural Science Fair was out of this world! With over 70 participants showcasing their projects and an estimated 3,500+ attendees over the two-day event, we far surpassed our initial expectations.
As a celebration grounded in SHTEAM (Science, History, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) our special focus in 2024 was on circular economy, creative reuse, and the built environment and our community delivered by sharing their work and joining the fun. From mind-bending experiments to engineering marvels, the fair showcased the incredible talent and creativity of our community.
We are incredibly grateful to all of our participants, volunteers, sponsors, and attendees who made this event such a success
A Triumph of Community!
To make the Science Fair a reality, the team at the Georgetown Steam Plant faced a significant challenge. In the weeks leading up to the event, it was determined that modifications were necessary to allow for public access to the second floor, including the Boiler Room. These modifications included raising rails by 6 inches and constructing an egress from the Boiler Room.
Thanks to the dedicated team at Equinox, these modifications were completed just in time for the Science Fair. Their tireless work ensured the safety and accessibility of the event for all attendees.
A Win for the Community!
The successful completion of these modifications not only allowed the Science Fair to proceed but also improved the overall safety and functionality of the Georgetown Steam Plant. This is a significant win for the community, as it enables the space to host larger gatherings and events.
Science Wins!
The Georgetown Steam Plant Science Fair was a testament to the power of community, collaboration, and a shared passion for the wonderful world of SHTEAM.
See you next year!
